Tanya Veluz
Tanya Veluz, LMFT, PMH-C is a licensed marriage and family therapist (Lic #53413) and owner of Pasadena Perinatal Therapy practice in Pasadena, CA. She wants to serve and treat parents of all backgrounds and support their journey throughout parenthood. She has had the experience of working for a large HMO where she developed treatment programs for new parents experiencing mental health struggles. In realizing there is much more work to be done to support new parents, the goal for this practice is to offer clients access to highly trained professionals who truly care and are invested in seeing clients thrive during what can be a vulnerable and sometimes traumatic period of life. She works as a team member with all therapists to ensure clients get the best possible care using Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT).
Tanya has experience working with couples, families, individuals, teens, and children (8-12). She prides herself on having a curious and direct approach in collaboration with you, to discover the best course of action to address the issues bringing you into treatment.
Tanya’s experience running postpartum and parenting groups allows for strong support of parents, as individuals or couples, struggling with the transition into their new roles. She also facilitates workshops virtually and previously out in the community on building and maintaining healthy relationships. She has been trained in Level II of Gottman Couples Therapy, also advanced training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Level II of PACT (Psychobiological Attachment Couple Therapy) and has studied interpersonal neurobiology (IPNB) with Tina Payne Bryson, PH.D. Dr. Bryson is known in the field as one of the leading parenting and IPNB experts. Tanya also has experience utilizing trauma based treatments such as, EMDR, Brainspotting, Somatic work in Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM) and Havening. In addition to parenting work, Tanya has training and experience in Maternal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International and is Perinatal Mental Health Certified. Tanya is also working towards certification under CAMFT as a certified supervisor for new providers moving into the field of psychology.
Previous work experience included, working in conjunction with the court system alongside attorneys and judges. Tanya has experience testifying in court to the progress of an individual’s treatment. While working at Gateways, she supervised Occupational Therapy interns who were learning to treat individuals with mental illness. She also volunteered with the LGBTQ community while at Aids Project Los Angeles (APLA) providing individual and couples therapy.
Tanya is a professional member of the California Marriage and Family Therapy Association (CAMFT), International Center for Excellence in Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT), and Postpartum Support International (PSI). She completed her undergraduate degree in psychology at Florida Atlantic University and then transferred to Pepperdine University to complete her Masters in Clinical Psychology with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy.
